OP maybe having some amped-up hormones, yes, but this is a pretty common and understandable--if petty/small--thing to be irritated about. For you to take a rather innocuous online vent and turn it into faux-concern over VERY REAL mental health problems is just disgusting.

My daughter looks exactly like her grandmother. Even more so now that she is older. I think it's sweet.

It’s the battle for family culture and identity again. It rears it’s head in the mother-in-law daughter-in-law relationship.

My kids, especially my younger son, look exactly like my dad. It makes me happy because for heaven’s sake, I relocated to my DH’s home town and birthed two children who have his last name. The least my kids can do is look like my side of the family, LOL.

I'm adopted and am thrilled when I can see that my kids resemble either me OR my husband/his family at all. It's so amazing to me. Just let it go, OP. I would feel happy that my MIL loved my child so much.

Just agree with her. “It’s true, Mary, little Squeaky’s chubby cheeks and baldness really do remind me of you!”

My MIL was constantly reminding me I was just the carrier of her first grandchild. It bothers you because you are being negated even though you are the one who literally did all the work of giving her that grandchild. My response was always that my child looked just like my grandmother: bald and toothless.

My mil goes around telling everyone my son looks EXACTLY like her husband. He doesn’t. It bugs me too
