Op here - thanks for your feedback.
For that matter, I don't think Mann's aftercare is that great either...and it is so expensive! And we do not have a great selection of enrichment either. I see people just love Hearst, must be a reason.

I love the away after school is set up. You can mix and match aftercare with enrichment classes. Innis is very flexible and allows you to just pay for the days you need. We can create a nice mix of sports, language, cooking, etc. and some time for just unstructured play.

We are in our fifth year of using Hearst aftercare, and there's nothing wrong with it! (And not sure what the knock on it is, frankly.)
It's unstructured free play, which is exactly what elementary school children need after a day of school, especially since there is barely any break time during the school day. As PP said, there are opportunities for more structured activities if you'd like to sign up for them.

Hearst aftercare is super convenient and I think organized. If you want structured activity you sign up for enrichment sessions during aftercare hours. It’s a decent set up honestly. And it just got better this year.

We are working on that... it’s good and reasonably priced. But it’s not great. Enrichment changes went into effect this year and that part already is better. Next up: aftercare. But not a reason to skip the school. And all kids get in. No wait lists.

Do you know anything about/have kids who've attended either Hardy or Deal? You keep posting about Hardy but it doesn't sound like you know the first thing about either school.

It is weird that Mann, generally acknowledged to be one of the two best public elementary schools in DC, feeds to a second-tier middle school. I guess that's the reason that a lot of Mann kids leave DCPS after fifth grade.
You again? Hardy is not a second tier middle school.
