We just moved from DC to PG (Bowie) and are finding the SpEd services to be really good in our small, diverse elementary. Really amazed how great it is. Not all of PG is to be written off.

You’ll need the formal ASD diagnosis reflected in an IEP to access one of DCPS’ HFA programs, plus of course the recommendation of the IEP team.

Thanks for this info! I'm just now coming back to this post. My son is in 2nd grade and has an IEP for ADHD but not a formal diagnosis of HFA. I will check out the schools and programs you mention.

Not from DCPS. But call the Special Ed office at the central office and they may remember to post an updated one.

I think the SWW @ FS program goes through MS. But I think they expect that by 6th most of the Level 1 autism students would no longer need the specialized program.
