I give a gift card to a store where the parents can buy more clothes in their kids current sizes and similar price point to the brand of clothing they gave me.

A thank you is always appropriate when someone gives you something.

A verbal thank you is good in this case. We give our clothes away so often, it's not a big deal to us. For others, it's a big deal.

I would say a handwritten note, a pic with your kid in some of the clothing or maybe you and your child can make a pumpkin bread and take it over to say thanks.

No gift cards, please - that turns a nice gift into a financial transaction. Text a pic of your kid in one of the outfits and bring a small something when you get together (bottle of wine if going to their house, book for their baby, etc.)

I've never sent anything because i generally haven't wanted them and felt like i was saving them the time to post it all on ebay or go to goodwill.
If you like and use it, a thank you is enough.

Don’t bother with a gift. Send a pic of your kid in the clothes.

And we can't eat two boxes of pears before they go bad.

Really, just a thank you is plenty.

Oooh. You haven’t had the Harry and David Royal Riviera pears.

I have never given or received anything (0ther than a verbal thanks) for clothes hand me downs. The giver is happy to not have them taking space in their house and the receiver is happy to use them (or at least some of them). They will likely get passed on again.

Probably nothing but if you want maybe an Amazon gift card.
