Let's just say it's my pref that development takes a big pause for a while. I understand many may disagree with me! That said, which of the three listed above best aligns with my preferences. Guess Elrich, but not really sure.
I"m voting for Floreen. I live in DTSS and I also hate the new big buildings going up. I'm afraid any cute stores will evidentially be gone and we will end up looking like Bethesda...Boo
Floreen is the better of the three choices,
This makes zero sense. If you hate the big buildings going up, why would you vote for someone who wants to build more of them?
Elrich wa the one who voted against bringing a mega mall to DTSS.
Erlich votes against things that create jobs and grow the tax base, right.
Look, we are in for some hard times. I don’t trust an inflammatory left winger or a nut job right winger in charge of the county.
Wrong. He votes against things that bring in those big buildings that are irresponsible and have no plan for accompanying infrastructure. He vot s for things like small business incubators and repealing outdated regulations. He is NOT an inflammatory left winger. Stop believing the pathetic and desperate propaganda from the select group that has a vested interest in unregulated development. The Washington Post editorial board and GreaterGreaterWashington are mouthpieces for Fred Hiatt, David Alpert and his protege Dan Reed who want the three or four largest real estate developers to make higher profits. They do not care about small businesses. All of this about Elrich being this scary job killer is propaganda.

If enough people in Bethesda believe as you do she'll have to align with the base that put her in office. She'll direct developers toward other areas to retain power.
I agree with other posters that Ehrlich only has contempt for Bethesda and will only work toward improving TP and Silver Spring. He wont stop the over development of Bethesda because its his piggy bank for the projects he wants to do in the east. If Ehrlich wins, Bethesda is screwed.
Agree with others that Ficker is too unstable and no idea what he would do.

You now have gotten rid of the ability of truly good policy makers to stay longer. If you think they are bad, vote them out. But if they are good, keep them. The good ones are few and far between.
Lack of term limits is what got Montgomery County into such a bad state. Leggett wasn't good he was entrenched. He rode off name recognition, entrenched alignment with the unions, and a voter base more focused on national politics.
This is also why Pat O'Neil has been on the BOE for so long. She is truly awful but entrenched.

Btw, and this is not why I think he is a nut, but he was a big proponent of the term limit proposition that caused the cluster F that was this most recent Dem primary for County Executive - not sure even he saw this potentially being his path to finally garnering enough support to be elected County Executive but if so he is craftier than I gave him credit for.
So you don't like that Ficker pushed the term limits thing? It got something like 75% support by voters (including me). I think it was necessary.
Blame the Democratic party, and also the taxpayer financing of candidates, for the cluster-f that was the democratic primary (also known as a clown car.. what a mess).
