We haven't been back to Muldoon's in a while but a few years back during the Potomac Memorial Day Tournament, it was so bad that the upper part of the parking lot that sits at the tree line was so muddy that cars were sliding from a dead stop. It took the brains there a full day to realize that this was unsafe with cars sliding and kids walking to close that top portion. The grass was unmowed and lumpy, the bugs were everywhere and the 2-3 restaurants in town were overrun.

Yup.
Apparently there were so many bad spots at OBGC that they could only line smaller fields, which is why the younger kids are there, and the older kids got moved to the swamps.

Yes...that was the single worst, most disgusting field/facility conditions I've ever seen.
There were even a few fields that were so bad, parents weren't allowed to watch from the sidelines...they kept us a full field away.

As a reminder, last year several fields were literally mudpits, and they forced numerous games to be played in the mud because there was no way to reschedule the games (and as someone posted, a number of teams paid a lot of money and came from out-of-state to play 3 games). If BSC did not learn from the mistakes of last year’s tournament at Muldoons, then shame on them.
No, shame on us. It's been like this for years. The only thing that changes are the registration fees, which just keep going up. Yet we all keep coming back. Over 1200 clubs participating, ...

I believe there is also a scrimmagfest going on at Muldoon Farms next weekend - so a lot more than just regular season games.

I can guarantee you that no one is BSC is considering, much less looking for, alternative sites for the younger age groups that play at Muldoon's and Summerhill.
Don't forget that the boys play in the Bethesda tournament the weekend after the girls. The fields already are wet and damaged, and will not be dried out for the girls' weekend. Things will only get worse when they are under constant use from the girls. Then more rain. I think they are going to be worse for the boys than they were last year. (But nothing will beat the mud pits at Summerhill during the Potomac tournament two years ago.)

Yeah, that's really why I'm asking about the Bethesda schedule. My DD's very first travel game was during the Bethesda PC tournament two years ago … at Muldoon's Farm. Regardless of what bracket her U11 team is in, I'm really hoping to be some place other than Muldoon's/Summer Hill. I see that Nike Park is one of the venues. Can I put in a request for that? (:
Sorry to disappoint you, but it looks like the U11G will be playing at Summer Hill.
The younger age groups get the crappiest fields.
They don't want older players twisting a knee in tall grass. Much more dangerous for older players than younger players.
But- yes---even the littlest kids shouldn't have to pay to play on completely CRAP fields.
