But can’t emergency break help slow you, and engine braking?

I use drivers 95% of the time. I actually prefer professionals who are better at it than I am.
What you don't want is someone who is either an alcoholic on the job or inexperienced.

The driver in your linked article was not a professional driver...
That's the point. She was an alcoholic.
PP’s post was about professional drivers. The woman in the article was not “on the job.”
If you're driving anyone else anywhere its a responsible and a job. Especially kids.

it’s easy to feel safe on a bus or whatever, isn’t it? The thing is even if some of them has been wearing seatbelts, the ones who weren’t would have still been human missiles bouncing around and hitting the people who were restrained. It’s hard to say how much it would have helped for a few to be belted in. People don’t understand that when they refuse to secure themselves (oand any cargo in the car) they’re not just putting themselves in danger, but anyone who’s in their way if they become loose in the vehicle.Anonymous wrote:I’m betting nobody was wearing a seat belt. Even people who ordinarily are conscientious in their own vehicles follow different rules in big party groups and limos.
