Flaky for sure and probably lying. I always make sure to let the other family know in advance if we can't make it for some reason. No one likes sitting around waiting for someone to show. Everyone's time is valuable!

I probably would shy away from a flaky family too.

This happened to me last week. Turns out the other mom totally forgot about it. I will be sending text reminders the day before going forward because DS was totally bummed about it.

No, it doesn’t typically happen. Obviously something is going on with the mother. She’s probably “flighty” because she’s overwhelmed, exhausted or struggling with mental illness. Just take your 2 year old to the playground and she probably won’t even remember the play date was supposed happen. And be grateful you have a healthy family and involved DH.

Ah DCUM, you’re so fickle. I usually say 2 & 1/2 when talking to people, but recently on another post a mom gave an estimate like that and a bunch of posters asked for specifics. Was DC closer to 2? Closer to 3? How many months was DC exactly? Can’t win!

That's probably because you were asking a question where it was helpful to know your DC's exact age. Probably something to do with whether something was typical developmentally. OP's thread about a playdate no show has nothing to do with needing to describe her child as 32 months.

One thing I do with people I don’t know terribly well is confirm same day first thing in the morning via text.

Yep I always say something like, “Hi Larla, DD and I are excited to have you and Larla over at 11 today. I’ll have some extra snacks and goodies for us too! ” so what I try to convey is hey, nice to have you over and here’s more info so don’t worry about food... But in the back of my mind I’m actually texting because most people are unreliable and frankly and forgetful, and I don’t want to be stuck at home all morning waiting for you.
