But the FCV 07 team is not very good. It’s a step down for Loudoun and McLean players. Most players and parents do not want to step down, leave friends, etc. Loudoun has a great reputation, better facilities, better coaches, the ECNL national exposure. Not hard to understand

If the player is good enough to choose between several options, it makes sense to do due diligence beyond the immediate team, but look at the overall track record of the club in developing players. FCV is crushing opposition in DA in all age groups, while Loudoun is struggling in ECNL in virtually every age group. Given the proximity of the two clubs, I think the defections to a more successful program are likely to continue.

Again, if FCV is crushing based on their development of players then why are you recruiting Loudoun so hard? You should be fine without Loudoun players, but the reality is FCV has always relied heavily on Loudoun developed talent in the past and Loudoun players went to FCV because ECNL was a better pathway than what Loudoun had.

Loudoun now has ECNL and there is a much less need for their players in the future to leave Loudoun for FCV. AND to leave a quality team for a team they have never lost to. Oh, and by the way, they get to play High School too.

But I though FCV developed all its players in house? It is also kind of difficult to convince a group of parents and players who have never lost to your team that your team is a better destination.

At least before FCV had ECNL and DA to offer, but I’m not sure DA alone will be enough of a draw to join a team that can’t even beat the team you’re on or even get seeded in the top brackets of tourneys.

How many kids do you think FCV can pull from Loudoun next year? How many want to move down to a team they beat three times in a row? An FCVteam that never plays top bracket of Jeff Cup? Kudos for trying 11v11 but not going well is it? Maybe you get 1 or 2? That not enough for you.

I get it. Your talent is not deep and you are doing your best to try but really 07s don’t care about 16, 17 and 18 year olds.

VDA does not have FCV DA within a 5 minute drive from their fields. Give it a year or two, FCV will have most of top players in your age group just as they do in the older age groups. They draw talent from all around the area, not just Loudoun.

Considering that VDA practices mostly at Longpark and most of the players are comprised of VSA players they are well within FCVs reach and yet they still
stayed at VDA.

That's fair. There is no need to move to another club if you are happy with your current team and coach.

Are you worried 2 07s and 2 08s are not enough of a foundation for FCV? I would be too.

I wonder if being in CCL, which does not post game scores and has some weak teams, helped Loudoun to market itself as elite, while hiding the program's deficiencies? They are certainly getting exposed now after moving to ECNL.
