I am generally opposed to having to pick up my kids after dinner on a weekend night. But if you’re providing transport home, sounds great!

You need to put the pickup time on the invitation and say that it isn’t a sleepover. I thought a pajama party was a sleepover.

Agree with calling it a pajama party. My kids loved hosting these and there was a lot less crankiness in the morning than after a sleepover.

I love it! Hate sleepovers so this is a good way to offer a fun alternative.

I love this trend, it's so much easier on parents! Call it a pajama party, tell the kids to come in their PJs, have breakfast for dinner, watch a movie, decorate cupcakes, go home.

It seems like a good idea to me. I might use this idea. How many kids would be a good number? I'd have it end earlier before they get tired. It also would clearly be a drop off party. Would the kids arrive in their pjs or change into them after dinner?

I love the idea. I get so tired of turning down sleep over invites. No I don't want my kid (9) staying up all night so they can entertain your kid with little to no supervision. Then I get to have an overtired wreck back. No thanks.

I agree but I think parents want to always over-invite instead of having a few kids over for a birthday sleepover.

I have never heard of sleep-under and I don't think kids this age want facials. And if they do, that is an issue with parenting.

I agree that 5-9 is just a party. My kids would like that but they are also fine with sleepovers.

Just call it a party. Its not trendy or cute.

I think it's a fine idea for a party. But I don't understand the name at all.

I was thinking of hosting a sleep under party and have Parents pick up around 9-10 or DH can just drive everyone home then. Maybe have the party 5-9 - play, dinner, movie or video games.

Sounds like a normal party. Why would you call it a "sleep under party"

We just had a PJ Party for my 7 year old and it all worked out really well. Kids dropped off around 5, the ate pizza and snacks, had cake, watched a movie and then headed home at 8:30.

Maybe I'm not up on the latest lingo or it's a regional thing but I've never heard the term "sleep under". I would be totally confused what this means if my kid was invited and what we're supposed to do. It makes me think of the time when I was growing up and the newly immigrated neighbors were invited to the neighborhood Easter egg hunt. No one explained to the mom that the eggs should be hard boiled. Don't assume, be specific.

That said, I think it's a good idea and would work well for our kids.
