DD has a first name that has lots of possible nicknames. Everyone seems to have picked their own nicknames (and pet names) for her from all the possible options which DH and I think is great! To me, it's a sign of the affection and unique relationship DD has with each of these people and the more people that care about her, the better.

My beloved nanny always called me Blondie. I loved it and still smile remembering it even though she is passed and I am not blonde anymore.

I have a nickname I always go by (and have as long as I can remember).

My Grandpapa always called me “Girl”. It rings in my ears to this day, although he’s been gone almost 20 years. I think of it, I see his face, feel his hugs, all of it.

Don’t change a thing. Nicknames and “pet names” happen organically. Let them be.

My grandfather always called my Dad “Boy”. My Dad is 65 and says he still misses it.

+1

My grandfather called me "girl". I thought it was hilarious and still do! He passed away a few years ago and I think of him fondly, although I am not sure he knew my real name. . .

My grandpa called me 'doll' and 'doll face'. If I could hear that one more time while he hugged me tight...

Let grandparents have their own independent relationships with the grandkids (if they're normal/sane/safe)

As a kid I never had any kind of nickname and I would’ve loved for a grandparent to address me with one!

My MiL came up with my 2nd DDs primary nickname when she was a few days old, and it’s what we all call her now.

My grandfather - who died nearly 40 years ago - called my mom his “little chick”. My moms siblings - and my dad - all call my mom Chick as do many of her friends.

My dad has a nickname for me that he still uses and I'm in my 30's. I know I'll really miss it when he's gone.

My DAd always called me by a nickname - and yes, I do miss it now that he’s gone.

This. Pet names are personal signs of affection.
