Restraint is sometimes necessary at the school where I work, not used as much recently as it was a few years ago. I agree with PP who said it should only be used if the child is attacking someone and won't stop or is attempting to flee to an unsafe area. Most recent experiences would be restraint lasting only a few minutes or less than a minute. Mostly we just contain the child in a safe area rather than touch them.
