I'm curious about the posts saying that L-Arginine is detrimental. Yes, CCRM has it as part of their cocktail and now Dr. Braverman has added it to his latest version of the EndoOptimize supplement for egg quality.

CoQ10 may have helped me. It's hard to know really, because I had a few things that were weird about the cycle I got pregnant. I started taking it in preparation for IVF because I wanted to throw the kitchen sink at our first attempt. I got pregnant before we started our IVF cycle, naturally. I'd been taking it for two months or so? Been trying for 2.5 years prior to that.

So yes, I took the rest after I weaned my first and we were loosely trying for my 2nd. Got pregnant more easily, but again not sure if our issue was egg quality and what effect CoQ10 had on it.

I put it in the camp of "won't hurt, might help" so why not?

If you're referring to myo inositol, what I recall is that this is mainly effective for women with PCOS, otherwise it could be detrimental. If you're still feeling confused about supplements, I strongly recommend you read It Starts with the Egg - it lays out supplement plans depending on your situation based on research studies.

I agree with this poster. Honestly I would lay off the supplements with the exception of ubiquinol. It's just not worth the risk and more likely than not those others won't make a difference. If you are open to acupuncture add that in but try to give yourself at leaat three months for it to have an effect.

Is there a general recommendation for the doseage of Ubiquinol to take? I’ve read a little bit about acupuncture, but am curious to know what others have learned about the benefits of acupuncture in this process?

According to the book It Starts With the Egg, studies have shown that L arginine can decrease egg and embryo quality in most people, with the possible exception of people with a history of poor response to IVF drugs, but even then there is little evidence of real benefits. I highly recommend the book, though of course the research is always changing so CCRM might be basing their cocktail on newer information.

All my stats were worse than 3 years before. I took ubiquinol for 3 months and did acupuncture - all to just start getting ready for I've at the 6 month mark. My first spontaneous pregnancy ever. My acupuncturist told me that cycle to be careful as it didn't seem like I was in the clear (not pregnant) . I was like whatever - my cycle is due to start in a day or two. It took me 10 days to test because I was in utter and complete disbelief. #2 is sound asleep in his room.

That's fantastic. What doseage of Ubiquinol did you take?

I think it was 100 mg three times a day. I used the quail brand I think from Costco (or Amazon). If you don't remember to take it three times a day dont stress it. Just try to take it at least twice a day. I think that's about as good as i did while starting to get ready for kid #2.

Qunol brand

My experience with SGF:

32 years
1 failed IUI,
1 failed IVF
2nd IVF - 11 retrieved, 3 made to 5 day - put 2 - have 1 healthy DD;

4 years later (36 years):
started TheraNatal OvaVite - prenatal + CoQ10 6 months before IVF
IVF - 17 retrieved, 6 made to 5 day transfer / frozen

I do believe supplements worked for me ... no other changes

So remember I was not DOR. Just on my second ivf and desperate. I took I-arginine and ubiquinol. I swear by ubiquinol and curse myself for taking I-arginine. Later I read that if you are not DOR you should not take l-arginine. Basically I hardly had any fragmentation my first I'vf. Second ivf after taking those two for 3 months between cycles, my fragmentation was out of control. 30 - 40 percent from 0 my first cycle (less than 10 in a few cases). My eggs did not fertilize . I tjink out of 12 eggs 4 fertilized and one of them was an atypical fert. Again all dramatically different than my first cycle. Are you being seen by ccrm? I know it's their cocktail so I would only do it if I was being seen by them.
