And dont get upset about nobody telling you of the uncharged- first, it's called a substitution fee and, second, you cant expect the teen working the drive thru to know about every particular detail.

This is correct and lol @ all this paranoia

I didn’t know it was a thing, I thought maybe this particular store was trying to make money by being sneaky. Disregard.

I am sure somewhere on the menu in tiny print there is some mention of it. But why would you not assume there was an upcharge for choosing something that was not an option. The real ridiculousness is the fact that they bother at all for one cent. But it probably is a law/ rule that they have to add a charge for soda since it is less nutritious. You should be happy it is only one cent. I do not understand your outrage.

Well, I would care. Chocolate milk has 9 g of protein that Sprite doesn't have, and it has 25% less sugar than Sprite.

Give your kids what you want, but don't say it doesn't matter.

25% difference? Oh, the horror!

Those differences are not marginal. FWIW, I'm not against soda for my kids when we are out, but there is a difference.

But why charge more for the prepackaged milk or juice when it’s well known that the fountain beverages are where these restaurants make their money? I believe it’s something like 2 cents to fill a large cup with Coke.

The Happy Meal was $3.00, but they added a $.01 “drink upcharge”. What? What is that? I asked the teenaged girl who took my money, but she didn’t know. I didn’t have time to wait and ask.

I mean, it’s only a penny to ME, but damn, they probably make a mint off of charging every Sprite that penny every day. I’m tempted to email them.

To tell them what? Buy it or don't, your choice.

Well, I wasn’t told about it. I only noticed it on the receipt. If a million people weren’t told about the penny and bought regardless, that would make McDonalds some hefty pocket change, wouldn’t it? Perhaps they should let people know about the upcharge.

And chocolate milk has more sugar and caffeine than the Sprite, so...

The menu clearly states what comes with the Happy Meal and what the options are AND A SPRITE AIN'T ONE OF THEM.
You are either full of sugar, honey, ice tea or this is your first Happy Meal.

You substituted for the drink that comes with the meal. Agree they should have told you about the $0.01. Good for you for giving your child sugary soda as a reward for behaving well!

Well aren’t you perfect. It was only a matter of time before Judgy Mom showed up! PS: Milk and apple juice has as much sugar or more. Everything in moderation.

I don't care if you give your kid soda or not, but you are dead wrong about the apple juice and chocolate milk, so just own it.
