This was true of me as well. I still feel like, for the most part, girls are way better at communicating. Yep males are told to grow up early and take things like a man. Calling your parents is not a manly thing...being independent is. It’s a society thing. Males are expected to make it on their own.
I'm a female and I was terrible about calling my parents when I was in college. I had places to go, people to see and I hated being obligated into having a weekly telephone call. That meant having to be in my dorm room at 5:00 every Sunday (or whatever) which was a pain.
Texting and cellphones have made communicating with our kids so much easier.
