Many people are away this week, so open house only is not a good idea. And life will go on if you have to adapt to a follow-on email.
Then why can’t they just look at the posted list when they return or on the first day of school? Why does one HAVE to know the name of the teacher the week before school starts?
Because they are 800 kids. At our school they line up outside and parents are not allowed in. It would be chaos if at least half of them didn’t know where to line up!
Our school of 680 does just fine without sending out letters.
Most kids (way more than half) go to open house and find out there. Then you can call the office on the Friday after open house to find out if you want.
And on the first day of school, kids line up outside by grade and they have some staff with the class lists for that grade for the kids who don't know their teacher yet. It's really not that hard.
