Years ago I knew a fun grad student from Great Britain who overextended her visa. Not sure if she ever went back because I lost touch with her.

I never know the immigration status of people but I have zero issue with most undocumented workers. They typically are extremely hard working and family oriented people. They are an asset to our country. They are trying to improve their lives and the lives of their children. I love the culture I grew up in. It was a mix of Mexican and Native American traditions.
The US appetite for illegal drugs has destroyed Mexico. Mexico has changed dramatically since I was a kid. I used to go across the border all the time. It is really sad that Americans have grown so bigoted but it is their drug problem that has made Mexico the narcoterrorist mess in many States.
This whole drama stoked by Republicans is just naked bigotry. There is nothing to fear from minorities. They are no more prone to criminality than whites.
Here we go with the "hard working" excuses for illegals.

If you lured the burglar into your house, then yes, you should pay.
We, especially republican farmers, lure illegal immigrants into the country with employment prospects. And you happily slurp up all the agriculture they produce for you while you froth with rage about their presence.

She and her husband bought a SF house in Silver Spring more than 10 years ago, with one toddler at the time. Now she has two children nearing high school age, and the public school have gone downhill beyond belief. Just TERRIBLE. Scores far below the county average, with high ESOL and FARM rates, and at least a third certainly illegal. They can't afford private school, and can't afford a SF house in a better school district. They are seriously considering selling their house (which is really nice and in great shape) and buying an older townhouse in Bethesda for the same money.
Oh look it's the anti-SS poster from the real estate and MD schools thread whose migrated over into the politics forum.
Hi SS-hater poster! We see you!
Nope. That's someone else. I never to to the real estate forum.
Are you upset because I pointed out a negative impact of illegal immigration?
No I am rolling my eyes at someone who doesn't know Silver Spring very well. Love our vibrant diverse neighorhood and our vibrant diverse schools. My kids regularly test in the 96-99% on all standardized tests, sorry to burst your bubble! But we're happy people like you don't want to live here.
Sorry Jeff, I'll stop after this one so as not to derail thread.

Now the rest of the victim’s family, who are all here legally, are paying all the medical bills, not legally required, but just because that’s who they are.
Huh? That's your response? The illegal alien shoul not have been here in the first place! If he had obeyed U.S. law, he wouldn't been hit. You can't say the same thing about a citizen who is hit by an illegal. They are not equivalent situations.
The liberal arguments keep going downhill.
Unfortunately many who are here without permission become victims of crime by US citizens. The US citizens know the immigrants won’t go to the police so they rape them, assault them, steal from them, fail to pay them for work, and all sorts of other horrors. These people come to work and are highly vulnerable to being exploited. It’s a really sad state of affairs. They need better protections, which is one reason why so many jurisdictions seek the cooperation of the community. RWNJs call these smart places “sanctuary cities” as if that’s a bad thing.
The illegal aliens need better protection from U.S. citizens? What if the illegals just obeyed the law and don't come here? They have no right to be here, and yet your priority and sympathy lies with THEM?
No wonder the liberals lost. Crazy.
