I'm assuming you dropped him off over the weekend which means he's at least spent one night. Have you talked to him? What's he saying about it?

I would be totally freaked out.
Private. In Virginia. Don't want to name the school as they actually are trying to be nice about it, and if it's a one-time thing, I don't want to slam the school.
But yeah, I am freaked out.
If they are being nice about it and are willing to work with the students (and their parents) into making sure that this infestation is eradicated from that dorm then I can see why you would want to work with them and not name them.
I would be *very* disappointed that they waited until move in time to handle this, though.
Right??
They said they exterminated over the summer but that due to all the rain, the roaches were a unique situation. I dunno, I’m having trouble believing that?
I’m really ticked off that the kids walked into this. Knowing kids were moving in, any staff member who just walked in to check on things before these kids arrived would have seen it. Means literally no one bothered to even look in the building before move-in.
And this is a tiny college. There’s only a small number of dorms total. It just feels very careless.

It’s possible he’s already moved in even if he goes to one of those schools- I know two kids at Washington and Lee who moved in already due to athletics...
