I hate spending this but I feel likes it’s required to look good. There’s a stark difference between women who spend on these items and those who don’t. You can get away not spending it until you hit your 30s.
+1
I feel like lots of women think it's stupid especially on this forum. But I don't want to only save for retirement, I want to live too and look great. I am almost 40 and started to spend more on myself in my late 30s.

Averaged for the year - perhaps $20 a month?
I get one basic haircut a year and buy quality sunscreen and retinol. Hardly any make-up. I do my own nails, and don’t dye my hair or have cosmetic work done.
Do you have grey hair?
How can it only be $20 a month? Are you including face wash, shampoo, conditioner etc? A bottle of suncreen costs me around $20 avg and I go through 2-3 a year.

$85/mo - wax
$120/mo - hair + brows
$65/mo - mani/pedi
$140 - monthly facial or extraction
Total is $530/mo and I consider it time and money well spent.
I might expand that to lashes soon...but for now I'm good. Various makeup expenses and skincare regimen - $800/year.
