Loved Hamilton, hated the effeminate Burr, except for his solos when he stood/sat mid-stage (has a great voice!). Fantastic production, I laughed, I cried, BUT: my biggest challenge was the lack of height in many of the lead characters. Dumb, I know, and maybe it's because of having seen it in NY where Washington and Jefferson and Burr were so strong/present/commanding/TALL, but I struggled with their lack of height/strength last night. Maybe because DCs Hamilton is so tall compared to Lin Manuel Miranda? I don't know, but it definitely bothered me.
The ladies all wowed, especially Peggy/Reynolds. Had the understudy for Angelica, and while she could sing, she didn't articulate very well (and I know every word, every note, every character), and was difficult to understand.
I noticed the height thing also. I agree it’s because the DC Hamilton is much taller than Maranda. Although I think that works better. He is supposed to be such a ladies man and while LMM is obviously incredibly talented the whole idea of the women being struck down by his looks and charisma isn’t really there for me.
In real life Hamilton was pretty short. I felt like the DC Washington was not tall enough. Washington needs to be tall and imposing.

Seems to have peaked already [/quotny experience was totally different. The audience was loud and engaged and totally into it. The cast was great- we also had the Angelica understudy. This was for Saturday night so I wonder how often she’s off.
It’s an anazing show. My husband, who I have to drag to the theater, loved it.

Overall, OBC better. LMM isn't the best singer in the world, so the DC Hamilton was better technically. That said, LMM is still LMM, and the whole vibe in NYC was thrilling.
Agree with this. Didn’t see him on Broadway, but have listened to the cast recording 100s of time. He may be a genius, but his voice is not that strong.
We had the understudy for Hamilton when we saw it at the KC - I thought he was outstanding.

Anonymous wrote:I loved the DC cast. I agree with PP that LMM isn't the strongest singer, but he's a better rapper. I think the women of the case held up to the original broadway cast better than the men, but they men were still impressive. The DC cast Burr played the role with a weaseley tone of voice that bothered me at first (being used to the smoothness of Leslie Odom), but it grew on me and it still fit the character very well.
