I am often struck and saddened by the harshness on this forum. Why are some people so noxious? Is it because we're all anonymous? Or something deeper than that?

I'm pushing 50 yo, and I don't recall it always being this way. I guess there's a lot of pain out there.

OP, good on you for being moved enough by your DH's expression of love for you to share it us. It's so wise of you to appreciate his thoughtfulness.

You've really set the bar low. I would think that most husbands would do this...and more.

He does a lot more than this, it was just a recent example of him taking stuff on to independently make the relationship more egalitarian, I didn't have to ask. Not the first or the last thing he's done to make me appreciate him!

My DH was born with a very severe physical disability and his whole life has been one of exceeding at everything but being very humble about it. His parents instilled in him the belief and determination to beat the odds and he has. He is a wonderful husband, a devoted dad, an excellent athlete and very successful in business. I'm so lucky that I was able to see past his disability when we started dating otherwise I would have missed out on this remarkable guy.

You must have sex with him still.

I've been with the same man for almost 20 years, married 15. I got very sick recently, still am, not sure when it's going to end. Worst part about it is that my brain no longer works and I'm struggling with my job and I'm deeply ashamed of how that affects my life. I'm suffering depression as a result of a lot of it.

But my husband, after I finally explained to him what was going on with my life, how I am really doing, changed himself to help me. REALLY changed-- he takes care of me more than anyone else.

I'm not sure how this will all end up, but lately, I've been feeling so blessed and so deeply grateful.

When I was in law school, I developed panic disorder and agoraphobia and ended up having to take a year off school to seek treatment. I couldn’t leave the house without having a debilitating panic attack. When it was time to return to school my husband drove me every day and then waited in the lounge outside my classroom in case I needed him. He arranged it at work so that he could work remotely on the days I had class.

It was only for a semester but it made it possible for me to graduate. He never complained and every day encouraged and reminded me I could do it. He is the best man I have ever known. We have been married more than 15 years.
