I don't understand why car alarms are made to go off forever anyway. In what world is it beneficial for an alarm to go off for 24 hours.

I would have done this maybe 5 years ago and definitely 10 years ago, but not now. Too many cameras!

My office is next to a commuter lot that had a car alarm going off for over an hour. It was driving everyone crazy and finally a guy from the building maintenance crew went out, stood on the bumper, and jumped up and down a bunch of times. I'm not sure what that did exactly, but he was confident in his approach and after about 10 minutes the alarm stopped. Anyone ever heard of doing that before?
