Why is that? What were the police doing before? Or were more officers hired to deal with the issues? Great - but this is yet another cost of illegal immigration for county residents to bear.
Yes, the County Executive and County Council added new positions to both the police department and the state's attorney's office back in the fall to crack down on gang issues.
Most gang members are born here, or are here legally. It's not all illegal immigrants. Remember, MS13 was created here in the US.
By Central Americans and anchors etc. So you blame the USA? How many millions or billions in aid have we poured into those countries? MS13 has been a problem in the DC area for over a decade. It's not PC to talk about it. Note Obama was our president for 8 years and MS13 ignored that as well as Trump, Bush, who ever. Crimes got and get reported. Connelly lobbied for money in about 2005 and so did Eleanor Holmes Norton.
Long Island got some extra gang enforcement money recently but our politicians have been asking for squat or we'd have read about at least some new federal help. NY area isn't exactly flush with Republicans so why haven't our politicians been barking for more money even for all the unaccompanied minors? Ridiculous that local taxpayers have to bear the financial costs of federal policy. Some politicians act like identity theft isn't even a real crime.

I read the crime reports weekly and other than assorted assaults (which tend to happen late at night), most of the crimes tend to be car or home break-ins. I'm not afraid in my home or when I go out. I'm much more afraid of being robbed when I go into DC.
Most gang violence in Montgomery County is against el Salvadorans. If you are not el Salvadoran or buying drugs from them, you are pretty darn safe.
But innocent El Salvadorans are being preyed on daily. Extorted, stolen from, threatened, etc.![]()
Like back in El Salvador but now we’re paying for crime enforcement and seeing it all here? Not good.
And no one is ‘safe’ when there are bullets flying around the neighborhood .
What we should be doing is working to stabilize things in these other countries. It spreads to the US so maybe residents will understand why we need a presence in other countries.
Unfortunately, in recent history the U.S. presence in Central America has been a force for destabilization. We don't have a very good track record in that department.

You can follow this website for updates. And the police department does a good job updating its facebook page.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Of course. When immigrants are afraid of the police, the gangs prey on thrum.
Victims are afraid to call the police for fear of deportation or deportation of family members hence crime rises.
All can leave. All
