I live in MD and I remember how nice it was not to pay taxes on Amazon purchases until they bought the distribution center in Baltimore. Then we were subject to taxes on purchases. Since we buy a lot on Prime, it does add up over the year. Not something that breaks the bank, or changes our buying patterns, but it does add up. And for those with lower incomes, it's can affect their buying pattern.
Anonymous wrote:Ditto for hoping Maryland gets Amazon instead of VA. The traffic sucks here and would push my commute to be even more nightmarish. I do hope that the toll prices might go down though. Let MD get some bad traffic as it stands MD isn't so bad with commuting traffic because its a pretty well planned out state with multiple back exits and ways to travel without toll fees.
Anonymous wrote:Might just be for a distribution center. They have NO distribution center in NOVA, a lot of Prime orders have to come from Baltimore or Petersburg, neither of which is close to NOVA, even without traffic. Throw in typical beltway or I-95 VA traffic, and it's a nightmare getting orders on time in NOVA.

Amazon has been charging taxes on all orders for quite a long time now.

Employees said otherwise
Let's assume OP didn't make this up entirely. What makes you think these employees are in the know? I assume there is a pretty narrow group of people who know the decision, assuming one has even been made.
Kind of crazy that people are taking an anonymous posting about a report from unnamed employees as worth anything.
