Ugh... DH is considering a job with AWS but this would more than double his commute.

You are clearly unfamiliar with South Dakota v Wayfair. That’s changing for everyone even if true today (often not).

Let MD get some bad traffic as it stands MD isn't so bad with commuting traffic because its a pretty well planned out state with multiple back exits and ways to travel without toll fees.

No chance it goes to MoCo with Elrich likely taking over and a chance of Jealous as governor. Why would they pick another area that views corporations as one big piggy bank? They already have that in Seattle.

They should just locate the distribution center next to my house.

Amazon has been charging taxes on all orders for quite a long time now.

And the Supreme Court just issued a ruling that will likely lead all states to taxing online purchases like other sales, regardless of the physical presence.

Amazon does have a small fulfillment warehouse here in the area, the location is just escaping me at the moment (Dulles or Sterling).

One also just opened in the Winchester area as well (or is opening soon). A coworker's non-neurotypical son got a job there.

I feel sorry for all those who already have to use 28 and 7 for their travel. The traffic from an Amazon location will make both of those roads more unbearable than they already are.

On the plus side, maybe the land they've bought will include those rundown homes on Rock Hill Rd. Such an eyesore each time I go that way to drop off my dog at daycare off Rock Hill.

Me too. Arlington is way overcrowded. In fact, I told my DC co-workers that I hope it goes to MoCo. Then their commutes will suck instead of people in VA.

Employees said otherwise

Let's assume OP didn't make this up entirely. What makes you think these employees are in the know? I assume there is a pretty narrow group of people who know the decision, assuming one has even been made.

Kind of crazy that people are taking an anonymous posting about a report from unnamed employees as worth anything.

+1 no way some rando employees would be in the know and be spouting off to people outside the company. The regular Amazon employees will find out when the rest of us do.

It would be absurd for them not to choose this site. But yes, keep it out of Arlington.
