It also depends on who will be the Democratic candidate in 2020.

If he/she is too far left, I can see indys and conservative d’s abstaining or voting for Trump.

It’s a pickle.

In fact, Trump’s supporters here are more entrenched and satisfied with his performance.

I believe that if you live in DC, you will not have a true accounting of Trump’s support nationwide, sorry.

I completely agree; I interact with a fair number of Trump supporters and I have yet to meet one who regrets voting for him. Yes, some do express occasional frustration about things he does or says eg his press conference with Putin, but it has not shaken their confidence or support for him one iota. They disregard the media other than Fox and think it is all fake news.

But it takes moving outside of the DC bubble to know what is happening elsewhere.

I just wanted to write the very same post. I know hundreds of Trump voters and they are supporting him even more now than on the day of the election. Sometimes I feel like media trying to create this unedifying remorseful Trump voter.

Yeah- I wrote this post, and I seriously don’t know where the idea that Trump supporters are regretful or will not vote for him in 2020 is coming from.

In the red states we rotate through it’s Trump 100%. It’s extremely evident in conversation and bumper stickers, yard signs, and the candidates running for mid terms have their wagons fixed firmly to Trump. People wear Trump t- shirts...hats... everywhere here, because it’s so overwhelming Trump and they aren’t scared of being questioned or attacked or shamed.

I can’t speak for anyone or anything other than what I see, but there’s no jumping off the Trump “train” yet imo.

+1 We travel between Texas, SC, and GA weekly/monthly for our business.

Anyone who thinks Trump is losing support in those states is incorrect. They LOVE him in all 3. It’s amazing.

very true... an avid Nixon supporter pretty much said the same thing, and explains why Trump supporters are willing to ignore his lies and corruption. Who better to understand them than someone who was once just like them?

They could either admit to themselves that they weren’t as smart as they thought they were, or they could maintain that the group actually lived up to its billing. How would you respond?

Just tell them efff-off like you want to.

I don’t hate stupid people, PP. Clearly lots of people fell for the con. There is no shame in admitting your mistake.

I think there are way too many trump supporters who have dug their heels in and just refuse to see the facts.

My father-in-law and my boss have both admitted they made a big mistake in voting for him.

NP. Yep, this thread reminds me of the one months ago when a holier-than-thou liberal asked whether liberals should "forgive" people who voted for Trump, even if they decided their vote was wrong. The sanctimony coming from the left is unbelievable.

Yeah, that doesn't speak very highly of those who voted for him. Sorry. He is an unmitigated disaster in every respect. Not sure why you're enjoying inflation, stagnant wages, higher health care premiums and drug prices, MUCH lowered respect around the world, the anger of our allies, paying for your beloved wall as well as all his golf games, our debased civil discourse, diplomatic and intelligence communities awash in chaos that makes us far less safe because they're too busy putting out fires or are being decimated in terms of staff to be paying as much attention to and dealing with threats as they should be, the unprecedented turnover rate in his administration, his and his cronies' utter lack of ethics, and his obvious disbelief in the idea that America is truly special, not in terms of our economic power,, which is the only thing Trump seems to care about (as regards his own private bank accounts), but in terms of our ideals. We certainly have never always reached those ideals or followed them, but they've always been there as a beacon for us to strive for in dark times, and he doesn't even care about them. Not one whit.

Just stop with the hysteria. My investments are stronger than ever, and my health care premiums are the same. And I really don’t care what the rest of the world thinks. He is the President of the United States, not the world, after all.

Indeed, yet he has capitulated to Putin and thinks the Russian meddling in our election is nbd because we've done it to others. As you say, he's the POTUS, not the president of Russia.
