Of course it is - don't be ridiculous. My family is from a tiny town out west where all the (white) kids are given made up names, like Bentley, Bryce, Caden, Saylor, Aeverie, Dalton, etc. You don't hear those names here because they are made fun of and judged as being all of the above. Which, to be fair - they usually are.

Janine is common among lower SES Germans. They pronounce it like "Sha Neen"

I do not look down on black names. I know many are trying to create or rekindle contact with their own heritage instead of using names stemming from white colonialist/slaveowner culture.

I actually have more bias against white people who make up names. That’s wrong too. I’m working on it.

Funny because I used to work about 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Pretty much 99.9% white aside from the sprinkles of mixed kids who had no father around and a white mom. My job required me to work with high school and college aged kids. There were so many “black names” to these kids that belonged to Coal miner, steel mill, union welding beer drinking, take opening day of trout and the opening week of deer season off yinzers. It was quite a shock to me being originally from Portsmouth, VA

I'd like to say I don't judge, but I probably do. Not something like DeMarcus, that seems pretty standard, but something more out there. But I judge White people names like the ones you mentioned, too. And can I just say, I love the name Iesha. Iesha, you are the girl I never had and I want to get to know you better ...
