It's for the good ole boys. This is their haven.
Anonymous wrote:CMC is far more prestigious than W&L. Forget the rankings....W&L is a second tier regional LAC.

Why do you say that? US News puts one as #8 and the other as #10 among LACs.
Because in 2018, seeking a school that is as undiverse (white) as W&L sends a signal. Not a great one. My white kid would never consider it even if it were ranked number 1 by USNews.
Unlike your own virtue signalling in your post? I suspect most white kids and white parents aren't going to agonize over whether a school is only X% minority versus Y% minority.
DP. Maybe not, but given where things are in the country and our increased awareness of such matters, having the name Lee there isn’t a plus.

Far too Greek and expensive.
It only gets about 14% of students from Virginia. It isn't just for good ole boys. W&L is an very selective, high quality school. Their graduates do well. There is a report from the Center of Education and the Workforce that rates schools based on their value add in earnings. It essentially compares expected earnings to actual. Expected earnings are based on selectivity and mix of majors (some majors like engineering make significantly more, at least shorter term). W&L ranks #4 nationwide and easily first in Virginia.

Do you know how this works with their engineering department not being accredited?
