We have a Mazda CX-9. Prior to that we had an Acura MDX. Both cars were perfect for family trips and regular running around.

The minivan was overkill for us. We got rid of it and got a Prius when the kids were about 10 and 8. They are now 17 and 15 and it's been a good car for the older kid to drive.

We also have a Lexus RX 400 for longer trips.

I have a Nissan Murano. My two boys will be tall and generally big. I have no plans on getting a bigger car. The expense isn't worth it to me.

A small wagon - Hyundai Elantra. I don't love it and really want a Rav-4 or other small SUV. Might make this the kids' car when DS gets his license next summer.

Honda Odyssey owner here too. Kids now 16 and 13, bought 8 years ago. Have driven all over the place (with luggage and 5 bikes on occausion), have delighted in carpool eaves-dropping, etc. Oldest learned to drive in this car. It's safe, reliable, dependable, etc. Not sure why we waited so long to get it, and am hoping it takes me through the youngest going to college!

Oh, I should say that before we test drove I was expecting to walk out of the dealership with a Highlander or Pilot! But - weird as it sounds - I just liked the drive of the minivan better. Before that we had a CRV which I really liked but no third row.

Honda Odyssey. We got it when the kids were 11 and 9 (they’re now 14 and 12) and I don’t know why we waited so long! It is awfully nice to be able to carpool with other families to practices (DS is a baseball player). DD isn’t so much into sports but it is very important to me to be able to drive her and friends to dances, football games, etc. I hear allll kinds of things that parents who can’t (or don’t want to) play “bus driver” get to hear.

We have the Volvo XC 90 and I drive the kids and their friends everywhere. Depends on the sports your kids do or don’t do. Son in theater and I’m glad to drive Gina do his friends around. I get to know them and I know that they are safe.

I have always preferred to drive a small car. I hate the feeling of driving a tank! (Which I understand is hyperbole, but it just feels that way to me.)

This is us too. Sooo easy to drive and park. Surprisingly easy to go on extended 12 hour car trips with.

We have an A4 and an A6. The A6 comfortably holds 4 kids, which is the max I ever want to have with me. Never felt the absence of a van or SUV.

Just got a new Honda Pilot (10 and 12 year old boys) and I love it! It’s the biggest car I’ve owned.
I had a Cr-V before. It’s been nice not worrying about how to fit guests and extra friends in the car—take 2 cars,etc.

We have 2 teenagers, 15 and just turned 18.

The 18 year old has been driving for 3 years (1 year learner's, 2 years licensed). the 15 year old has a learners and will be driving at 16.

We have a family corolla that the 18 year old has been driving (he'll be heading to college in the fall won't have a car at school), I'm driving a 10 year old minivan and the 15 year old has been learning to drive on both the corolla and the minivan. Dh recently bought a newish extended cab pick up truck for our hauling needs and that is his primary vehicle.

I would like to trade the minivan in for a mid size SUV or a sedan (like a Camry). Depends on the deal we find, but most likely a Camry. At this stage, our need for 3rd row seating is just not that great.
