They do have a distinct presence about them that seems to drive middle and upper middle class people into a silent jealous rage. And they're always so perfectly clean and freshly detailed.

An old school, barebones Land Rover with the benchseats will drive over anything. Great if you own a big piece of land in the countryside or traverse awful washed out roads. Well built too, if maintained regularly.

The newer luxury models you see cruising around NW DC and Bethesda are awful mommy-money pits.
