If you want to give a creative thing like that, you could try an "older version" of playdough:
modeling clay. iT comes in lots of different colors and is fun, but a bit harder to use so is really good for their fine motor (not that you'd tell the kids that!)

Yes but he has a younger brother. They enjoy it together and use it as part of other games like making me "food" in restaurant.

Agree with PPs that it's a mess but oh well.

Play-Doh is fine--my almost 7yo still enjoys it--but I do think the average 6yo has moved past Paw Patrol/Octoanuts/PJ Masks and squarely into Ninjago (ugh!), Lego, Star Wars, superheroes, etc. So it may depend on the theme of the party--the Play-Doh on its own won't be babyish, but if it's a themed set of something many kids have outgrown, then it could be iffy.
