If you buy the parking you can 100% stay through the encore because when exiting, the parking attendants hold the traffic when a VIP parking car comes to exit. It's amazing!
I've been to tons of shows there and always buy the VIP parking. I've never spent more than 10 mins. exiting Jiffy Lube after a show because of the parking. Very much worth it.
Make sure the boys you're taking have enough $$ for water. It's going to be HOT tomorrow and still at dangerous heat levels at night. I don't see how your husband can possibly wait it out, but if he does, brave man! I just took my niece and her BFF to JLL last month for a show and the other girl's mom did not send her with enough $$ and it was only in the 80s for that show. Poor kid ran out of $$ for food and water soon after we arrived and was trying to tough it out until I forced her to take $$ from me.
Are you under the pavilion or lawn seats? The covered seats do have huge ceiling fans that put out a bit of air but not enough to be cool.
Given what a shitshow the parking lot is there, I'm surprised there hasn't been a serious rage incident over this practice.

They have a lot of staff at exit time and its heavily controlled. I don't get the PP drama. You bring food and water and if you are concerned about a child, you just go buy water. You are allowed to bring water in. They say no food but I brought food for my child/no issue (we also bought ice cream).

The show will end at 11. They all do at JLL. My guess is ID will go on around 9:30.
The food options inside are horrendous and super expensive. Stop at a place nearby and get some food ahead of time and eat in the lot. There's a Chipotle and a few places nearby.
New Poster here, I live within a couple miles of JLL. There are a ton of places to eat in Virginia Gateway Center, which the road (Wellington) from JLL. http://www.vagateway.com/stores. All the typical chains of fast casual--Chick Fil A, Panera, Cava, Chipotle, Five Guys, etc. Plus across the street (Linton Hall) is a Burger King, Taco Bell, and KFC. If you're looking for something with table service there is a BJs, Firebirds, and a few others.
My recommendation would be Pizza NY Margarita or Mission BBQ.
