Most safety equipment is now standard, other than this front end collision avoidance technology. Called different things by different brands. If you can get it for your kid, that would be awesome.

+1. DD drives a 2008 Honda Civic and we like it because she's less likely to be distracted by the gadgets that a lot of newer cars have. She likes it because she's barely 5 feet tall and can actually see over the steering wheel while driving it.

Civics are more expensive to insure. It’s the number one most stolen vehicle, even late models.

All cars manufactured in the last ten years have the same basic safety features - airbags and antilock brakes. What else do you think you need?
Presumably lower insurance rates.
The blindside spot checker, not sure what it is called? To help with lane changes on highways (Beltway and 3-lane roads)
Gadgets. An attentive driver doesn't benefit from these things in the least bit.
