Two sisters. My parents didn't feel comfortable with their children getting along well with each other, so that affects our relationships today. I'd love to be close, but understand that's not going to happen.

3 sisters. we live pretty far apart but are emotionally pretty tight. I'm very close with one - we tell each other everything and talk every week. other two I try to make sure I catch up once a month or so. when we all get together, which we make sure to do at least a couple of times of year, we are the best of friends.

1 sibling, a sister 5 years younger. We get along OK now but we're not close - we text often, mostly about our parents, but happier over text than when under the same roof. Growing up our relationship was pretty bad, and then I left for college and she got the brunt of our parents' overbearing parenting style.

I would say that I respect her and care about her but I don't often like being around her.

I have two sisters- I am not that close to one of them ( a lot of issues have led to a strained relationship with trust issues). My other sister and I are best friends and know everything about each other! We just click on everything and laugh all the time.

I'm old enough to be my sister's mom. We are close, but it is more of an aunt-niece relationship than sisters. She is sisterly with my oldest DD who is roughly the same age. I really would have loved for us to grow up together.

I have a sister and we're 1 year apart. We've always been very close since birth. Can't imagine my life without her.

6 years younger. We weren't close as kids but now we're as close as our busy schedules and families allow.

One sister, 17 months apart. Not close at all. We were way too different growing up and seriously battled jealousy/resentment. As adults, we both moved out of state to opposite sides of the country. We see each other once every couple years at my parents' for Christmas, and text about specific things 2-3 times a year. We have absolutely nothing in common (except, ironically, the exact same profession). I wonder what will happen when my parents pass--that's really the only thing uniting us.

One sister, four years younger than me. Not at all close. I'm essentially her case manager, and while I have enormous empathy for her, she has acted in ways that preclude a close relationship.

I do have a friend I grew up with, and have known since we were three. She is closer to me than my own sister, and I am beyond grateful for her presence in my life. I know she feels the same about me (in general and re: her sister).

One sister, 3 years apart. We are close-ish but she puts up a wall to keep us from the kind of relationship I've seen other sisters have. Definitely not best friends, but she's there in a medical emergency. And we enjoy talking about our shared history. She lives an hour away and I see her maybe six times a year.

One sister, 5.5 years apart. She doesn’t have kids yet but loves mine. I call to chat with her about random shit while I make dinner and she drives home from work. I wish we lived closer but she and her husband work in a field that’s very location specific, and my DH does too, but they’re very unlikely to ever be the same location. That kills me.

I have three daughters and the age gap between the youngest and oldest is the same as me and my sister (like, down to the day). I hope that bodes well!

I am 23 and my sister is 17. When we were younger we played a lot together since we both liked Barbies and dolls. We are kinda close, but not really. Mainly because of things that I’ve put my parents through. We get along well, but when we fight, we fight. My mom also has preference for my sister and I’ve always been jealous of that which strained my relationship with my mom. Overall though, I like having a sister because we both like make up, can go shopping together etc only downside is the age gap. Her teens years have also been hard and I was always annoyed of her when I still lived at home with my parents. Now it seens she’s maturing but still has a long way to go

OP, I do not have a sister. I do feel a closer kinship to women friends who also do not have a sister. In some instances we have talked about it, talked about how we should just consider ourselves sisters since we don't have one. What that means to me/us is the intent to be life long friends and to always be there for each other for big events, happy or sad ... even if we go through periods of time when the relationship is strained or we don't always feel as close.

One sister, less than two years apart, we are close, but don't live in same geographic location.

No sister. Two older brothers. I am close to both. One SIL does not want my brother to associate with his side of the family, so we talk in secret. My brother is 58 years old. Other SIL is a sweetheart. I am closer to the brother I have more access to. All three siblings are very close and will do anything for each other. I think my horrible SIL has become like that because of mini-strokes or something.
