No. A progressive Republican -- indeed any Republican -- would allow local boards of election to set the calendars for their own school districts, if they were ideologically consistent.

So your complaint is that he is too liberal because he was willing to have a statewide mandate supersede local control?

I am pointing out that it is hypocritical for a Republican to do so. And also bad for education, but that's a different issue.

Yeah wouldn't he be biased on issues? He advocated for causes so won't he disproportionately represent them as governor?

That goes for anyone who ever advocated for any cause (including the cause of furthering one's own interests). Should we only elect people who have never advocated for anything?

LOL. BTW Baker doesn't really have a chance anymore apparently losing by 40,000 votes

I am not a big Hogan fan but that’s going too far.

Hogan has denounced trump plenty of times. He just banned state military from helping trump separate families at the border.

When has he specifically denounced Trump? Could you quote some of his language, please?

So did Hogan.

It was about taxes that affect all of us. Jealous only advocated for African Americans, which only helps a minority of us.

Nah, Ben Jealous advocated for civil rights, which helps all of us.

I 2nd that.

I third that. I like Hogan but would have voted for Baker. No way am I voting for Healiys. This will be my first vote for a republican. In the age of Trump no less.... well, most people are in the center and all the outside money in the world won’t change that. And to bernie sanders: please sincerely go eff yourself.
