Good guess. Did you know that a big reason Jews didn't succumb to the Black Plague (in numbers proportionate to their population) is because they washed their hands before eating? (Of course, bigots blamed Jews and said they caused the Plague, but that's another topic.)
That is so interesting. I just went to an Orthodox Jewish wedding yesterday where there was a hand washing station. (I'm not Jewish)
