All of the Williamsburg options are a little off of 64. Why not do Newport News or Hampton Roads, Jefferson ave , Victory Blvd etc.

We stop at the Starbucks in Williamsburg on our way down and back home (it is in a little strip mall with a Game Stop). It is about halfway for a bathroom break and is a reliable place to get coffee and a bite to eat.

If you end up taking 301 or 17 to bypass Fredericksburg traffic, then you can stop at Horne's. It is literally at the intersection of 17 and 301, and it is a good old-timey gas station / restaurant. Very family friendly and a good place to shake out your travel legs.
Another option is to keep heading up 301. Just before LaPlata on the east side of 301 is Johnny Boy's Ribs. They only have picnic tables (this is true road-side dining) so it is that, your car or take it home. Even if you went somewhere else for lunch it is worth it to stop and Johnny Boy's to buys some bbq for dinner when you get home! Word to the wise, though, it is a little $ and you need to order the sauce at the same time you order your meat otherwise there is a little kerfuffle when you ask for it at the pick-up window.

If you are going to down 17, Lowery’s not the best food but nostalgic as it gets. If going 460, Prince George BBQ right where 295 and 460 meet.

We occasionally stop in Williamsburg because there are so many restaurant options and it’s the midpoint. But on our drive home (we leave by 7 AM) it’s usually too soon for lunch so we prefer to stop outside Richmond off 295. There is one exit in particular with lots of options - route 360 towards Mechanicsville - with Noodles, Cracker Barrel, chick fil a, IHOP and more.
