a) The reason for demand for these schools is that these schools are viewed as a golden ticket to wealth and power.
b) They are viewed that way because of hiring preferentially from those schools.
c) Hiring is from those schools because admissions practices allow hiring managers to use admission to those schools as a proxy for intelligence.
d) Admissions practices have changed to de-emphasize intelligence in favor of other factors.
e) Admission to these schools cannot be viewed a s proxy for intelligence.
f) Hiring preference will end or decrease.
g) Demand for the schools will decrease.
This is correct.
Let the game play out. Pretty soon those schools will not be associated as having a student population of superior intellectual capacity but with students from wealthy, elite “pay to play” type families sprinkled with the ‘right kind’ of minority to appear as though they value everyone.
Anonymous wrote:Not just Asians, everyone should boycott universities with intentionally discriminatory admission policies. Even if you 'benefit' from the practice, is that really how you want to win? And do you really want the prize? The racism never stops at the door.
Anonymous wrote:Students should take a common sense approach in creating approximately 10 common app. colleges to apply. If Harvard doesn't have a history of welcoming Asian students, it makes more sense to replace it with schools that do.
That said, I am inclined to believe there are great many SLACs that have relatively low Asian acceptances - less to do with discrimination - more to do with the fact that Asians are enamored of Harvard and Ivy League. These are the schools that Asians should be focused if they want to increase their chances at top schools. These schools are just as good, if not better, than Harvard and other Ivy League schools.

Do we apply this logic to other races and demographics too, or is it just the Asians that need to get over it?
To those crossing at the border: when will you move on and live your life! Get over the immigration thing why don’t you! There is just so many the US can handle. You have some. You can’t have them all. The US is not the only game in town. There are other countries in this game too.
Gay people: when will you move on and live your life! Get over the bakery owners, why don’t you! There are just so many cakes they can make. No bakery is the only bakery in town. There are others you can go to.
