It was definitely the announced policy 3 years ago and should be the policy IMHO - crazy to cram more upper middle class kids in Janney when there are lower income kids who would more benefit from the access.

What the heck ever happened with kids from low performing schools getting preference on the waitlists? Curious if the people posting on here claiming to be at the top of the list are applying from low performing schools?

Exactly. Those 30 offers might have been for the same 1 or 2 spots. And no way Janney should even have PK. OOB spots are only offered to fill up classes to a number acceptable to DCPS (20 or 22). Janney can't have 1st grades classes with 18 kids.

No - the offers do not match the number of slots they are filling, so the information about the #s on the wait list are relatively useless for anything beyond knowing the status of the waitlist. It could be for 1 slot, 5 slots, 20 slots, etc.

The cohort for rising 2nd graders is small so I figure they will take a few more in addition to PP above. I doubt they will take many (or any) for rising 1st as the classes are already big. Rising 4th is the other large cohort in the school.
