How good is the mattress in your master compared to the mattress in your guest room?

Next time have kids go to In-Laws and avoid the issue entirely.

I don't think you know what that phrase means.

When I was single, I always gave my parents my bed when they visited. Now that I’m married it feels weirder to me, especially after we once had my ILs use our room. In the bathroom all our private things are there - medications, menstrual supplies, birth control... if there is a guest room with bath - they should stay there. But given these ILs cross boundaries regularly, be prepared to find out they used your room regardless of what you tell them. For the spouse who is bothered, you’ll probably have to deal or find other childcare next time.

I would think sleeping in the master was weird but it wouldn’t be the hill I would die on.

If the guest room is on same floor as kids rooms, they stay in the guest room. They can use the master bath.

Sometimes we let the grandparents sleep in our bedroom when we travel and they watch the kids, but that's because our master is on the same level as the kids' rooms (as opposed to the guest room, which is downstairs) and they want to be close in case a child wets the bed and has a nightmare and comes looking for help.

If the guest room is also closer to the kids' room, this makes their sleeping in the guest room even more of a no-brainer.

I wouldn’t care where they sleep, especially since they’re doing such a big favor by watching the kids.

Caveat: my MIL sleeps in our bed when she visits and DH and I sleep on the sleeper sofa in the living room since we just have a two bedroom and there’s no room in the nursery. So clearly my boundaries are different than most of the PPs.

Very strange if you have a guest room. Lock the door.

If you have a quest room with a Queen then thats where they should sleep. I am shuddering thinking about my IL's sleeping in my bed.

If you didnt have a guest room Then they should have your bed.
