Maybe two weeks ago I got a note home in my child's backpack. I can't remember if it was in a taped envelope or stapled shut the way progress reports are sometimes.
It had two papers. One with his recommendation and one with a form to ask that he be re-evaluated if I disagreed with the decision. He said every child in the class got one.

Anonymous wrote:OP here. Thanks for the thoughtful replies. It sounds like 216 may be borderline-in, but be a data point that makes them look closely at teacher recommendation. Our family always does some math enrichment over the summer (just an hour or two of shoring up each week) so I think I may do that, and wait for Fall MAP scores and if they are also high, perhaps petition at that point. Thanks for all the data!
