Yes to the bolded!! This bothers me because DH is always complaining that I have stuff in the kitchen. The only place that’s exclusively mine in our house is one dresser. DH has a whole bedroom as his office, kids have a playroom for their toys and DH has taken over the basement as a place for his hobby. There is nowhere that’s just mine and it bothers me more than I thought it would.

Ha, our dog does this too. It irritates the crap out of my far more than having my husband home.

I only get annoyed when DH takes over the kitchen island and makes phone calls on the main level and expects everyone around him to be quiet. When he’s in his upstairs office I love it because he takes the dog with him and he sleeps instead of barking at me. I don’t work in the summer and he can get on me about doing things he wants me to do on his timeline but that’s an issue whether he works from home or not. This summer I may end up missing the days where I could lounge around all day and then do a quick clean up and make dinner in the hour before he came home and he wouldn’t know the difference.

Get the hell out of his office!

OP here. Thanks for the commiseration. Yes, we do have kids. They are in elementary school. It’s great that he can pick them up and is here when someone gets sick, etc. I was just venting over his CONSTANT PRESENCE.

Yes. I WFH on Fridays. My DH got approved to also do one day a week too and I told him if he does Fridays we're getting a divorce. Smart man chose another day

My husband and I both WFH full time. People are always asking me how we don't kill each other, because we are together for all but maybe 6 hours per week. 99% of the time we get along very well. I do have a separate office off of the detached garage, so we have some space. Once in awhile he gets annoying (as I'm sure I do too). This morning he's having a rant about our insurance rates skyrocketing because our son has his drivers license. I'm now hiding in my office and hope he gets over it.

I love the image of him guarding the kitchen like a bear. My sympathies OP--the fact that you have a sense of humor will help you get through this.

Time to get him signed up for an evening activity.

But I do think being gentle and honest with him is a good idea. That if feels like he's getting territorial about the house being "his" and how you'd like some down time when you get home.
