Like almost half, by some estimates. Ward 9 gets preference over MoCo or Va., however.

Anonymous wrote:Poster from earlier, we don’t want to move to DC because we own land that has been in our family for 3 generations. While it’s true Alexandria schools are on par with Wilson and Duke Ellington and maybe School without walls DD would have to compete too much with VA students. Since the bar is pretty low in dcps and the FARMS rate pretty high, when DD graduates in two years she will eligible for scholarships from top schools because she’d possibly fall under the overcoming a hardship category. I’m doing what I can to provide my child with advantages. Just like the other 49% of MD/VA families with their kids enrolled in DCPS. DC isn’t going to do anything about it because each student is a body counted toward their bloated federal funding budget for education.

I love in DC but grew up in Prince George’s county and my parents put me in DCPS. I went to Stevens ES when it was not connected to Francis Middle School and it was on 19th & L street NW. My parents worked near K street, it was convienent for them.
