My daughters school is 45% Latino and the vast majority of those kids were born in the US.
Are their parents illegal immigrants?
I know many Latino families who have been here for generations. I know many Latino families who are here on refugee status. I know many Latino families are here on TPS. I know many Latino families who are on green cards.
I don't know what all the parents immigration statuses are but if the kids were born in the US they are citizens regardless.
My husband is an immigrant and no one assumes he is here illegally .....oh wait he is white, of course they wouldn't.

Do you think all the gang members are here illegally? If so, you are wrong about that.
Not all, but most.

And before you say it, I'm a liberal Dem who despises trump. And who supports DACA. If you are in the US undocumented, I want to help you. If you commit a crime, you get shipped out immediately.
F DACA is allowed to stay it will just attract more illegals. It's sad but they have to go . The message has to be delivered that there is no hope in illegal entry .

Anonymous wrote:It's disturbing that the principal is refusing to take action. The police are also being bureaucratic about this. Of course they know there is a gang problem. I commend the Post for shining a light on this and forcing the authorities to take action. Even if the authorities do develop a will to fight this, it won't be easy.
It's likely that many of the gang members are citizens. It's not just a matter of deporting them. The schools needs to be sure they don't go to the opposite extreme and start harassing students for wearing the wrong color or accidentally talking to a gang member like other schools have done. And potential gang members need serious help. Part of an effective anti gang initiative is making sure there are resources for the community, and alternatives to gangs, jobs programs, etc.
If students don't feel like the community at large cares about them, and they don't see any action taken against the current gang members, they are much more likely to drift towards who they see as being in charge. (being prodded with death threats doesn't make the choice any more pleasant)
