Another Arlington option is the Tuesday night drop-in program. The beginner/non-competitive program is great place for someone just getting back into playing

I am sure there are a lot of adults who still do play after 40 even after serious injuries -- just making the point that in the "social" Rec leagues -- i.e. the ones in dc that I play in -- there are some older dudes like me but very very few older women. Unfortunately nova and moco are out of the picture for me as is anything not in the wedge between work and home.

I need to check out the stoddert pickup league -- nice tip!

I am three years late to the party, but I'll add my comment: the adult rec leagues in Arlington are fantastic. I play in the league at the age of 53, and there are quite a few players who are older than I am. I play in the beginner's league and it is great fun. While there are some true beginners, there are also a fair number of players with excellent skills. I enjoy the skill mix. When I'm in the mood for a challenge, I push hard in the 1v1 situations against the better players. But I dial it back several notches when I'm defending against a newbie. Regardless of skill level, everybody seems to mix together well and enjoy each other's company.

I have a bunch of 40-something friends who play. The teams keep asking me, because I am athletic and they need girls, but I don't really have the time.
