You don’t need a minivan with four kids. The two 4 kid families in my neighborhood never had a minivan.

Yup, I can say the same thing about my 2007 Mazda 5. We just replaced it because it felt like I was always dumping money into it. I liked the drive of Mazda but wouldn't buy another one because of the amount that broke down on this one.

Mercedes makes a minivan. But some people (smart ones) value function over "status cars."


Mercedes hasn't sold a "minivan" in the US since 2011...


You think the cost of shipping from Europe is an impediment to Jeff Bezos' wife? The point is that she could easily choose a more "status car" but doesn't.

I call troll but we do love our Q7. Drives like a car but has plenty of space and a third row. I also really like the XC90.

Yes, the 3-row version is called the RX350L. We have the RX350 as we only have 1 little one (but trying for another).

The RX isn't as fun-to-drive or sexy as the RR (and I probably wouldn't feel comfortable driving on the beach with it), but it's supremely comfortable and will last 10+ years without anything but tires/brakes/oil changes. It just comes down to what your expectations of the car are.
