Left my favorite pair of jeans in a hotel drawer and didn't even realize it. They called before I had left town and I was able to swing by and get them. I probably would never have realized where I left them had they not called as I was on a marathon travel schedule and wasn't wearing them often.

DH left his blackberry. I also left out passports in the room safe and a kid left her favorite stuffed toy. They were all returned. In our defense all of this was probably over a 20 year time period but reading all this makes me realize we've left a few things behind over the years.

I left something in an uber and it was NOT returned..

My husband left something at a Marriott property once. He didn't realize it until after he returned home. We know several people who work at Marriott HQ in Bethesda. One told us to call the hotel, ask for Head of Housekeeping. He left a voice mail with HoH. Got the item sent back next day.

Even though my friend at Marriott said that they have a clear procedure on how they handle lose/left behind items, we were still surprised on how easy the process was.

Was this just a charging cable and portable battery? Those aren't especially coveted items and are probably left in rooms every day. Why would housekeeping keep those? You can replace them at Five Below.

My dad left a hat. The hotel called and said it could be shipped for the price of shipping or they would donate it to goodwill. He chose to donate it.

Your story was really nice until I got to the part where you made an assumption that people who clean automatically take things that aren’t theirs.

I got my flat iron back.

I had my keys DHLed back from Jordan. Wasn’t going to bother but a new car key is $200.

My gold earrings. Gone. Within 10 mins. Yes, housekeeping was waiting for us to leave - at 11am.

Because it’s a 1.5 diamond solitaire with a platinum band. Very good cut and clarity. A lot of people would probably keep it.

Yes. Have left phones, nice clothes...sometimes realized soon enough to get it, others they mailed it to me. Always easy.

I left a blazer at a hotel; they used a service called ileftmystuff to ship it back to me. Cost $18, totally worth it.

Yes we got my kid’s blanket back.

A few years ago we stayed at the Sheraton on the Avenue of the Americas in NYC. Our daughter left her retainer in the bathroom. They had packed it in a Fed Ex box and over-nighted it to us before we even realized it was missing. Got it the next day.

In my experience of thousands on hotel rooms (I travel for work all the time) the thefts are rarely the staff but are other hotel guests or those who case the property. The maids don't pocket big-ticket items, maybe small stuff, often half-opened toiletries, etc. But even that it is rare.
