It's fine, OP. I potty trained my son last year at this time; he was 24 months. We went outside in our row house yard.

OK but where is the pee going?? It's one thing if it's in the Oxo Portable potty trash bags, another thing if it's getting dumped in the grass.

Pet owners don't bag their pet's urine, so why bag human urine? here are always pets at or near our local parks and playgrounds because of the many walking trails and families who bring their pets along when the kids play. #2 is a definite bag situation.

+1 how did all our moms potty train without the use of those little potties? It is not necessary. However, if you need to bring a portable potty, then bring it to the trunk of your car. Do not set it up on the playground. It’s rude and not how the world works. The bathrooms don’t come to you, you walk to them.

I did naked 1 full day, then quick outings with him in shorts and t shirt with no undies. We had an accident or two but it’s hot out and I quickly put him in dry shorts and wet ones in a bag. It’s okay to have a few and it will be too nice to stay inside all weekend. My child was great at peeing behind bushes when at the park. Still does if we can’t get to a potty quick. I can always get him off the playground to do it so he isn’t near where kids play and he’s behind a bush. I don’t think there is anything wrong with a small potty at the park. It’s genius really. My son just wouldn’t sit to pee so we never used one but I don’t find them gross at all.

We haven't potty trained yet (almost 20 months), but I have the book and was thinking the same thing. We're in a small apartment and DS needs to get outside regularly for sanity on the weekends. How will we stay cooped up?!?!

Do you live in DC? There’s no way I’m going to drive half a mile and attempt to park every time we go to the playground.

You ... must not live in DC? We walk to the parks, and that walk is longer than a newly potty trained child might be able to stand.

How is it filthier than a pee accident ON the playground equipment? I did that once or twice when we were first training when the playground was pretty empty. Bring paper towels to soak up the pee, throw it in a plastic bag, and into the trash can. No different from a dirty diaper except.

Depends on how you feel about it - my kids are regularly outside naked and our neighbors have seen them but we're all friendly with one another and no one really minds. We also live on a quiet culdesac and are usually in the backyard. My 3YO refuses to play in our sandbox with clothes on so he'll strip down to his underpants pretty regularly.

I'd probably do a long t-shirt, though, for front-yard playing and especially if you get a lot of people passing by.
