If he has health care from the VA it's because he served in the military, not exactly a free ride.

In addition to healthcare, many veterans receive pensions and disability benefits and education benefits and additional other benefits. That's fine if it's necessary. I know several veterans who have 100% disability ratings, yet they have no apparent injury and somehow manage demanding professional careers with big six figure salaries. They're all republicans btw who are quick to judge people on public benefits. The lack of self awareness is befuddling.

My brother was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam but through VA tuition benefits earned a BS, MBA and became CFO of a large company. He developed multiple myeloma and then a few years later, leukemia, from the drugs use to treat multiple myeloma. He put himself through two drug trials at Hopkins and is alive and relatively well. At Hopkins he was told he could receive VA disability benefits for his exposure to Agent Orange. He donates the benefits to a group supporting families of service members killed in the Middle East.

He is a Republican who volunteered to serve in an unpopular war, has saved many lives by becoming a human experiment at Hopkins, and donates his disability benefits plus countless other funds to Veterans service groups. On his behalf and as a registered Democrat, STFU, PP

It’s explained in some of the reporting - I didn’t read the article OP linked but read about this elsewhere a couple of days ago. If the person you’re evicting is a family member you need a judge to sign off on it.

My dad was shocked some months later to come home after a trip to find my brother in his new place.
