Anonymous wrote:Drive to Niagara Falls. Make a stop on the way in the Pittsburgh area. There’s a hotel with a water park above Pittsburgh that’s fun if your kids of that age. Depending on when you get there, it’s a 1 or 2 night stop. Then drive to the falls. Instead of a regular hotel try for an extended stay so you have basic cooking capabilities. Saves a lot of money. (We go for cabins in camp grounds so we can also have campfires and cook outside but you mentioned you’re not into that sort of thing).
Spend a few days at the falls. Then travel back through Corning, NY. Spend at least one night, two if you can. Stop at the glass museum and take a class. Also tour the museum.

I cannot imagine dropping $5k for a trip to Pittsburgh. We've been to Pittsburgh, Philly, NYC, etc. None of those cities can hold our attention for 5-7 nights. Those are long weekend trips at best, and they only cost $1k to $1,500 (when driving).
What about options in the $6k range?
