Don't do it. I work at a charter. We have a thousand kids on our wait list. Everyday dozens of people call to ask this question. The official answer is that we will work through the wait list through September. We don't know who will show up or not. We don't know if we'll move five or fifty spots. Last year has no bearing on this year.

I've played the lottery before so I know how frustrating it is, but getting that call every every hour dulls the senses a bit.

It is May 10th. The school is processing enrollment paperwork from current returning students as well as incoming new students. They are concerned with the end of the school year. If there is a wait list, it means that they have extended offers for all the available seats. If those people have enrolled, the school has no way of knowing if they will suddenly change their minds or not.

Assume that your child will not get in and make other plans. Then change those plans if your child gets in after all.

Doesn’t accepting an offer cause automatic removal from any other waitlist, even the ones you ranked higher?

You can re-rank your list and put the one you are accepting at the end tp avoid that.

sure, call them!
I know the front desk person at our JKLM elementary is very nice and gives as much information as she possibly can regarding current waitlist chances. Plus you don't have to identify yourself anyway.

What did they say?

And which grade?

Prek4. They just said that they're still in the process of making alot of waitlist offers, and if the list isn't moving very fast just be a bit patient. That was the jist.

K has moved 5 spots for me already, though my number is approx. 100.

They opened up an additional class for K so it will probably move alot.

They didn't open a new class post-lottery IIRC? This is just the "new" class to accommodate the extra PK4 class they added last year?

Yes sorry you are correct

I called and they were super friendly and helpful. Just said that it's a waiting game. My son's number keeps moving down so maybe there's a chance.

Right, not post-lottery, but more K capacity this year than last year.

I don’t think it can hurt. And as a current Seaton family, I can tell you that the staff and administration are great and won’t have any issue with you calling, even if they won’t be able to tell you much (and they may be able to, I’m just commenting on general attitude and demeanor more than substance).
